As Texan I’m excited the 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan was named as the 2014 “Car of Texas”, it was named by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA). I can definitely see why they choose the Genesis, since I test drove that car in Arizona at the beginning of April.

TAWA is one of the largest and most respected media associations in the U.S. The award was issued at the Texas Auto Roundup at the iconic Texas Motor Speedway (TMS), this award is the highest ranking at this event and also first for Hyundai car. And if that wasn’t enough, the Genesis won top awards for Mid-size Luxury Car and Best New Interior.

“We are honored that the 2015 Hyundai Genesis has been named ‘Car of Texas’ and proud to see the sedan getting out of the gate so fast,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, Corporate and Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “This is another first for Hyundai and given our recent winning streak at TAWA events, we know our Genesis and the rest of the Hyundai line-up have what it takes to compete in Texas and beyond.”

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]Same as every year, the 2014 Texas Auto Roundup had active TAWA media members evaluate almost 50 of the industry’s leading sedans, coupes, family vehicles and performance cars. Each car were put under all the different test at TMS. The Genesis also took supplemental awards for Best New Feature, Best New Interior and Best Value. Not only the Genesis took “Car Of Texas” but also “Family Car Of Texas”.

“TAWA members were easily impressed by the 2015 Hyundai Genesis, enough to name it the top honor Car of Texas,” said Michael Marrs, TAWA President. “Luxury is important to Texans but so is value. The Genesis hits all the right buttons as it is more luxurious and dynamic than before all while still holding on to the namesake’s incredible value.”

The Genesis competed with the likes of 2015 Volvo S60 T6 and 2014 Lincoln MKZ in the Mid-size luxury segment, and it took the award by 10 points. The Genesis did an amazing job receiving many votes in which no other car did in the 13 segments.

Certainly Hyundai made a winner with the 2015 Genesis, the premium features and the 2.0 Fluidic sculpture design.

The options of 3.8 V6 with 311 HP and 5.0 V8 with 420 HP, including the new HTRAC AWD system for the first time in a Hyundai car. With base pricing starting at $38,000, a true blend of premium value, safety, bold design and superb driving dynamics can be had with the 2015 Hyundai Genesis.
