After we published the first time ever spy pictures of the Hyundai Sonata PHEV a few ago, latest reports from South Korean confirmed that the model will be revealed at the Hyundai Press Conference held at 2015 Detroit AutoShow in January 12th.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]Alongside this confirmation, we’re able to share some specs on first time ever Hyundai’s Plug-in Hybrid car.

The new Plug-in Hybrid is going to share the base powertain from the Sonata Hybrid launched the past year (only 2 weeks ago haha), using a more efficient 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine with gasoline direct injection (GDi) delivering 150 hp plus the electric motor with 70 hp. The Sonata PHEV can drive in Electric Mode more than 30km.

This car is the second car on Hyundai-Kia plans to expand the future line-up of eco friendly cars.

Hyundai & Kia said they will unveil seven new hybrids, plus six new plug-in hybrids during the next five years and will expand hybrid powertrain from compacts to SUVs. Stay tuned for more info soon!
