Hyundai Motor Manufacturing plant in Saint-Petersburg received Russian Government Quality Award. The award is annually given to Russian enterprises for achieving significant results regarding quality of products and service and for implementation of highly effective methods of quality management. The plant of Hyundai Motor Company has become award winner among organizations with over 1000 employees.
The grand awarding ceremony was held in Russian Government Reception House. After receiving the honorable award from the Chairman of the Government of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, the General Director of Hyundai plant Shin Myeong Ki said: “We are proud that our plant has become the winner of Russian Government Quality Award. This award is a result of collaboration between Russian and Korean employees. At our plant we effectively combine Russian intelligence and Korean diligence. Only together they guarantee the leading positions of our product and develop a reputation of our plant on Russian market”.
According to the results of 2013 year Hyundai plant demonstrated stable dynamics of production results, by manufacturing 229 400 cars, which increased year plan of the enterprise by 4%. The growth of production volume was achieved due to following the principles of quality management, aiming at results and continuous optimization of technological process.
In many respects the success of the company is caused by high demand on cars, manufactured by the plant. The sales volume of Hyundai Solaris model made 113 993 cars in 2013, which is 3,8% higher than last year rates. Hyundai Solaris was already thrice proclaimed Car of the Year in Russia – in 2012, 2013 and 2014 years and still is the bestseller among foreign cars on Russian market.
Russian Government Quality Award was established by the Government decree of April 12, 1996 in order to stimulate quality of products and service, facilitate implementation of effective methods of quality management. The model of assessment of award applicants is Russian analog of European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM).
