Despite the overall decline in sales of hybrid cars in the US, Hyundai and Kia Motors saw cumulative sales of their hybrid models pass the 100,000 mark.

[ads id=”2″ style=”float:center;padding:9px;”]According to industry sources on August 17, the cumulative sales of the two Korean auto makers’ hybrid cars in the Us totaled 100,011 units for the period from April 2011 to July 2014.

Of the total, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid accounted for 65,263 units while Kia Optima Hybrid took the remainder.

In the US market, Sonata Hybrid set a new monthly sales record last month when it was sold 2,800 units. This figure is up 27.3 percent from a year ago. This is in a stark contrast to the 11 percent decline in the overall hybrid car sales in the US.
