Hyundai Motor Group unveiled today rendered images and other details of the EQ900 (Genesis G90 for overseas markets), the first model under its new global brand Genesis that will officially be launched next month.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]The EQ900 is also the latest edition of Hyundai Motor’s Equus flagship luxury model, which was consolidated with the Genesis brand, and the top-of-the-line of six models to be launched under the Genesis brand in the years to come. It was unveiled in Hwaseong, south of Seoul, where its main R&D center is located.

“We have focused on touching the hearts of customers and establishing global designer-brand heritage by providing differentiated product quality and emotion centering on the perception of human-oriented advances, which is the brand identity of Genesis,” the company said in a press release ahead of the media preview.

The EQ900 comes, as we published before, in three types of powertrain — the Lambda 3.8 V6, the addition of a new Lambda 3.3 V6 Turbo and the Tau 5.0 V8 — all of which were developed by Hyundai Motor. In particular, the Lambda 3.3 V6 T-GDi engine produces a maximum horsepower of 370 and 52.0 kilogram-meters of torque.

A large-size grille dominates the front with refined head lamp designs. The company said that the lines that come off the grille are in harmony with the overall ample body that makes an “elegant” impression on the sides.

As the flagship and luxury model, the Genesis G90 is equipped with diverse state-of-the-art safety and convenience features designed to maximize customer satisfaction, the company said.

By expanding the portion of ultra high strength steel in its body, the EQ900 offers more stability and safety. The company said it has improved the car’s strength against outside shocks, including twisting and bending by about 180 percent compared with the previous model.

[ads id=”7″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]The EQ900 is also the first locally produced model equipped with the “highway driving assist system” intended to help autonomous driving. Other safety features, including clash avoidance systems, have also been applied.

The Genesis G90 focused on making the driver and passengers feel at ease when driving. In a bid to reduce the inside noise level, Hyundai Motor said it applied a triple weather strip on its doors and used sound insulation glass on the rear window for the first time among locally produced vehicles, the company said.

By using the latest suspension technology called HVCS, Hyundai Motor said that the EQ900 will make sure its passengers can enjoy smooth driving and driving performance even at high speeds, which they could not feel in other luxury sedans.

“Signaling the start of the Genesis brand, the EQ900 will provide the highest level of satisfaction that customers could not feel before,” a Hyundai Motor official said. “We are sure that it will become a representative luxury brand of our country.”
