Today we have a new set of the upcoming Hyundai Tucson by our spy photographer Carpix.

Spied in less camouflage than before it reveals a lot of its lines now and it does look slightly more coupe-ish than the current model.

The new Tucson is going to be a very big deal for Hyundai, as the Tucson is one of the company’s most popular models. It also competes in a very popular market segment (compact SUV’s), where the big sales are for now. For the next-gen model there’s set to be a range of all-new features, including powertrains and in-car design and connectivity.

The design will according to Sangyup Lee, the vice president of styling at the Hyundai Design Center, be something that “will freak you out”

The next generation Tucson is set to have the all-new Theta3 2.5-liter engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai plans to use the Theta3 N/A & Turbo 2.5-liter engine as its base engine in the US market. The European market will most likely also get an updated version of the 1.6 liter GDI as well as the 1.6 liter T-GDI and also a possible diesel version. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions will be available.

Another option is likely to be the new 2.0 GDi HEV hybrid, which already debuted with the new Hyundai Sonata.

The Tucson and Santa Cruz most likely will be produced at Hyundai’s Alabama plant in the US. Expect a debut in 2020 as a 2021 model.
