The new Carnival powertrain configuration was released prior to its official launch on July 13th. According to the Ministry of Environment’s Emissions and Noise Certification Center, the new Carnival powertrain consists on the new R2.2 diesel engine and a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, which combines a 8-speed automatic transmission.

The 3.5-liter engine has a maximum output of 294 horsepower. The first mass production of the new carnival in July was planned for 500 7-seater diesel, 140 gasoline, 1900 9-seater diesel, 250 gasoline, 200 11-seater diesel, and 10 gasoline. In August, a total of 8,300 vehicles, including 4500 of 9-seater diesel, will be produced in earnest.

However, there is a possibility of production fluctuations due to Corona19. The new Carnival Diesel is equipped with a SmartStream 2.2D engine. The engine is the same as Kia’s new Sorento Diesel, and it features less weight, improved fuel efficiency and improved noise and vibration by using new injectors and cylinder friction reduction technology.

On the other hand, unlike Sorento, which combines a wet 8-speed DCT transmission, the new carnival has an 8-speed automatic transmission. The highest output is 202 horsepower. The 3.5-liter natural intake engine, which replaces the existing 3.3-liter gasoline engine, combines an 8-speed automatic transmission to achieve a maximum output of 294 horsepower, 14 horsepower higher than the previous one.

The car body of the new carnival is 5155mm long, 1995mm wide, 1740mm high, and 3090mm wheelbase. Compared to the previous model, the overall length increased by 40 mm and the overall width increased by 10 mm. The exterior of the new carnival is pursuing a refined appearance away from a typical minivan with the concept of grand volume.

It features a front part that emphasizes a dynamic and future-oriented image, and a rear part that emphasizes connectivity and grandeur. Inside, the electronic display panel and infotainment are combined into a panoramic display and a touch-type air conditioner.

While Kia will held a digital unboxing event on July 13th, it is expected that will start taking pre-orders from July 22nd.
