hyundai elantra n rendering

The last week we have seen new teasers of Hyundai’s Elantra N hot sedan, also leaked pictures appeared, and now our colleagues at NY Mammoth have made this very accurate rendering. Thoughs?

What we know so far?

The Elantra N’s powertrain consists in the already known 2.0-liter turbo engine, that could be matted to a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed wet DCT transmission. The maximum output is 276 horsepower and the maximum torque is 40kgm. The six-speed manual transmission supports rev matching.

The maximum output is 6000 rpm and the maximum torque is exhibited from 1500 rpm. During rapid acceleration, the second gear is engaged at 100 km/h. In particular, magazines such as Car&Driver evaluated the performance of the 8-speed wet DCT transmission as clever as the Porsche PDK transmission. Rear multi-link and electronically controlled suspension were applied. Now we have confirmed that it will have a 6-speed manual option, at least for South Korea.

The Elantra N premieres new 19-inch N-only wheels (235/35 Pirello P-Zero) the same size for both the front and rear axles. For the brake system, Hyundai has used the same as the Veloster N. The air intake port is newly applied to the front of Elantra N. Side skirts are installed on the side, large rear spoilers and diffusers, and large-diameter dual mufflers differentiates it from the N-Line.

Through an active variable exhaust system, it produces various exhaust sounds in N mode and fast acceleration. The interior layout is similar to the basic Elantra (known as Avante on its local market). The infotainment now includes N-specific menus and configuration.

The N-dedicated infotainment system supports functions such as boost and oil temperature gauges, G-force, and lap timers. There are five drive modes. In the N Custom Mode, you can adjust the engine, steering wheel, suspension damping, rev matching, attitude control, and exhaust sound. The speedometer displays up to 290 km/h.

“Elantra N is an outstanding addition to the N brand lineup in that it offers pulse-pounding performance in a practical four-door package,” said Thomas Schemera, executive vice president and head of Product Division at Hyundai Motor Group. “Elantra N is undergoing final development now, including validation at Nürburgring, so we can deliver a car that enthusiasts will love in 2021. Once launched, it will be the flag-bearer of the Elantra lineup.” he added.
