We recently spied Genesis GV60, first brand’s bespoke electric crossover codenamed as JW EV thanks to CarPIX, who have captured it in Sweden, and today we have a new picture with less camouflage that allowed us to see more of its design. The taillight design is familiar, while it has a “V” shapped chromed C-pillar. Also the prototype has what looks like an active spoiler.

The GV60 production, first Genesis electric vehicle to use Hyundai’s E-GMP platform exclusively for electric vehicles, will start in August. The E-GMP is set to be the head of the Hyundai Motor Group’s new electric vehicle technology.

The GV60 will also have two brothers, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia’s CV (still without a name) that are expected to be released in February and May respectively. The specifications of the GV60 are unknown, except for the premiere of the wireless charging system. The GV60 will be placed at the bottom of the Genesis SUV lineup.

Along with this, Genesis will begin the mass production of its second electric SUV, based on the GV70 (to be called as eGV70 or GV70e – we will talk abouth that in another post – ) electric SUV in December.

Codenamed as JW, the Genesis version is the one spotted on these photos and is going to be first dedicated Genesis electric vehicle. The Genesis JW EV is a crossover SUV that will reach the showrooms during the second half of 2021.

As we can see the Genesis features such as the split dual-design head lights and rear lights are also coming with this EV model that seems to be aiming for the compact electric crossovers such as the Audi Q4 e-tron, the BMW iX1 but also the Tesla 3/Y and Polestar 2.

This prototype also features the camera side mirrors instead of the conventional side mirrors, something we haven’t seen on earlier prototypes. We recently shared the specifications of the Ioniq 5, so we can expect that Genesis variant copy-pasted at least the minimum specs from its brother from another mother.
