We already have talked a lot about the new generation Hyundai Grandeur (codenamed as GN7), but almost every day there are new pictures like these from Cartopia who captured the three prototypes (with alloy wheels from 18, 19 to 20 inch) that are undergoing testing and again we can have a look to the front, this time with the DRL LED lights on.
What we know so far?
According to staff source, Hyundai plans to apply a design inspiration from the first-generation Grandeur to the seventh-generation Grandeur. Hyundai’s next-gen flagship design will drink from first-generation Grandeur DNA combining retro and futuristic design but it will also have latest tech available at HMG.
The informant said buttons will disappear in the new Grandeur, now will be touchscreens all over. The length of the car will grow to 5015mm from 4930mm. Inside, the rear seats could be reclined while the gear selector will be the same as IONIQ, so steering mounted.
The 18” inch wheels are borrowed from Kia K8
The front design is very close to Staria/Telluride, (that means will have vertical headlights) while the rear design is similar to Lucid Air, and similar to the rendering above.
A key feature of the All-New Grandeur will be the Magic Roof, like Mercedes Benz, instead of a regular curtain, will be capable of blocking light and heat or become transparent depending on drivers choose.
Talking about powertrain, it is expected to carry over the same engine line-up as K8 with which shares platform. The K8 is availble with a choice of 4 gasoline engines. A 2.5-liter and 3.5-liter GDi engines, a 3.5-liter LPG and a 1.6 Turbo Hybrid.
But compared to the K8, the Grandeur will have an all-electric and in addition to the existing five-seater interior configuration, it will also have a four-seater luxury variant with independent rear seats. Next-gen Grandeur is expected to go on sale during third quarter of 2023.
Between this and the Prophecy their greenhouses are going to be interesting. I never seen a greenhouse like this before.
Original Greenhouses: Genesis GV70
2023 Sportage, Kia Telluride, 2021 Elantra, Kia Stinger, 2023 Kia Niro, 2023 Hyundai Grandur 2023 Hyundai Prophecy. 2021 Kia Carnival. HYUNDAI KONA, 2022 Iqonic 5, 2022 Kia EV6, 2022 Genesis GV60, 2021 Hyundai Sonata, Kia Soul
Kia Ray, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Santa Cruz. Keep it up aiming for an original greenhouse.
The K5’s greenhouse may not be original because of the Lincoln MKZ but it is groundbreaking unlike the 2021 Accord’s greenhouse which also isnt orginal but is not groundbreaking since it copied.the 2011 Sonata’s greenhouse.
The Koreans are doing an excellent job making orginal greenhouses lately
Boring Greenhouses: Kia K9
Kia K7. Kia needs to work on these greenhouses and make them groundbreaking next generation. They are zzzzzzzz.
I really really hope that Hyundai makes this have a new interior design language. Just like Kia has there amazing new curved screen, Hyundai still has the same old 10.25 inch screen. If Hyundai makes this have a new screen, they might come back on top. But for now, Kia is #1 in Korea and the US.
