Revealed for the first time in March 2021, the South Korean carmaker is already preparing the KIA EV6 GT facelift, their first dedicated All-Electric high performance vehicle (codenamed as CV) and now we want to share an AI rendering made by our colleague and high school student / designer Sustvin.
What we know so far?
Captured near Hyundai-Kia R&D Center, the updated Kia EV6 was captured heavily camouflaged so it is difficult to see differences. We cannot appreciate any bigger differences that affects any part of the design as this is probably in an early stage of development.
Talking about the powertrain, we don’t expect many changes compared to the currently line-up despite a small fine-tuning to make the electric motors more efficient and probably adding a higher density battery pack to increase the electric range.
Initial draw made by Sustvin for the AI to generate the final design
As for the inside, looking at the recently launched EV9, you can bet Kia will apply the same third screen curved glass system as well as the latest safety and tech features including on demand features. It is difficult to know when Kia plans to release this facelift but we don’t expect it before Summer 2024 in South Korea, with European and US-spec models arriving by end of 2024.
Despite the world is no longer facing a semiconductor shortage, Kia is still struggling to delivery the current EV6 and another top models such as Sorento or e-Niro so it is difficult to predict if these schedules will be fulfilled. It looks like some of the orders will be delivered as a refreshed model if that situation does not get better during 2023. What do you expect about the updated KIA EV6?
