This lightly disguised Hyundai being tested in the California desert shows the Korean automaker preparing a move into the newly crowded commercial van segment against the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit and Ram ProMaster.

Details of the Hyundai offering are sparse, including whether it is rear-wheel drive like the Transit and Sprinter, or front-wheel drive like the ProMaster, and whether it will be offered in North America, Europe, or both. (The van was caught in Europe too few months ago). A Hyundai spokesman declined to comment.
