The Kia Seltos made its global debut at Delhi, India back in June but left us wonder if it’ll be ever come to the American Market.
As of right now Kia Motors America haven’t made any announcements if this SUV will ever be sold in the states. We also received a video thanks to Luis Cisneros who caught the Kia Seltos on his dashcam driving through the californian roads without any camouflage.
We know the Kia Seltos has the 1.4 Turbocharged, 1.5L Naturally Aspirated and 1.5L Diesel engines available in India but more than likely we probably won’t see a Diesel engine coming to America just yet so probably we can scratch that from the list. As of right we are not 100% sure of which engines options the Kia Seltos will come to America but our guess will be the new Smartstream Gamma2 1.6 Turbocharged engine (same engine as the new Sonata and Optima) with 180 HP and 27.0Kgm (195 lb-ft) of torque with the new Continues Variable Valve Duration.
There is been rumors that this model doesn’t have a name for the American Market yet, since Seltos is currently named for India. Sometime ago we heard the name Tusker was been toyed around so there is a high chance this could be the name used for the American Market. The definition of Tusker is a male elephant or wild boar with large tusks (long pointed teeth).
We recently received details that the Seltos has started production at Kia Motors Manufacturing Alabama with their T1 and T2 level, those are production cars but mainly used for different testing like crash and so.
Can the Seltos survive the competition of the very popular boxy KIA Soul? Would you consider the Kia Seltos for your next purchased?
Stay tuned for more details soon.
