Genesis Magma Racing is set to make a bold entrance into the world of motorsports with the global debut of its first high-performance racing car, the GMR-001 Hypercar. According to Genesis teaser, the official unveiling is scheduled for April 16th.
GMR-001 Hypercar to Lead Genesis Magma into Racing Spotlight
According to a teaser campaign on Instagram via @genesismagmaracing, Genesis will showcase the GMR-001 as its first real entry into competitive racing. The model is also expected to appear at the upcoming 2025 New York International Auto Show, opening on April 18th.
The event in Manhattan will not only reveal the vehicle but also give visitors a glimpse into the development journey of Genesis’ motorsports ambitions—highlighting the brand’s goal of combining cutting-edge performance with refined luxury.
Built to Compete: LMDh-Class Specs and 680 Horsepower Hybrid System
The GMR-001 Hypercar is being developed to meet LMDh (Le Mans Daytona hybrid) standards, enabling eligibility for some of the world’s top racing championships. This includes the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (WTSCC).
The hypercar will feature a hybrid powertrain producing up to 680 horsepower, integrating an eight-cylinder layout and a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine—a proven engine platform from Hyundai’s existing performance lineup. This strategic choice allows Genesis to fast-track its motorsports timeline by leveraging reliable, high-performance components.

Looking ahead, Genesis plans to enter the Le Mans Series (LMP2 class) in 2025 through a partnership with global racing team IDEC Sport. Full competition in the WEC and WTSCC is targeted for 2026, where Genesis will aim to challenge established performance brands on the global stage.
A New Era for Genesis: Luxury Meets Performance
The GMR-001 Hypercar and the launch of the Genesis Magma sub-brand represent more than just a foray into racing—they signify the brand’s commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, and global brand prestige. Genesis is poised to redefine what a luxury performance brand can be, setting its sights not just on the road, but on the racetrack.
