Kia Corporation officially debuted the Kia PV7 at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany. Marking the second dedicated all-electric vehicle in the manufacturer’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) roster, the mid-to-large light commercial vehicle (LCV) follows the smaller PV5 to expand Kia’s presence in the zero-emission commercial sector.
Scheduled to launch in South Korea and Europe in 2027, the PV7 will be offered in dedicated Cargo and Passenger configurations, with additional market rollouts and derivatives planned to follow.
The 'Tool Box' Concept and E-GMP.S Architecture
Engineered on Kia’s PBV-dedicated E-GMP.S architecture, the PV7 shifts away from the urban-focused "Open Box" design language of the PV5 in favor of a heavy-duty "Tool Box" concept. The vehicle incorporates a completely flat-floor construction aimed at maximizing interior volume, improving loading ergonomics, and lowering step-in height to reduce physical strain for fleet drivers and logistics operators.
By leveraging Kia’s Flexible Body System, the chassis is structured to accommodate conversions, specialized body styles, and diverse commercial derivatives. Following the initial 2027 debut, Kia intends to scale the PV7 family into 23 distinct variants, bridging the gap until the larger flagship PV9 arrives in 2029.

Powertrain, Battery Options, and Driving Range
Kia engineered the electric powertrain of the PV7 to balance payload demands with operational range across regional and long-haul duties:
Battery Capacities: Available with either a 71.5 kWh or a larger 96.2 kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery pack.
Output: Front-wheel-drive configurations generate up to 200 kW (268 hp) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. An all-wheel-drive dual-motor derivative is scheduled for introduction at a later stage.
Driving Range: The Long Range Cargo variant achieves a targeted WLTP driving range exceeding 460 kilometers (285 miles) per charge.

Integrated Fleet Software and Uptime Solutions
To support enterprise operations and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO), the PV7 integrates directly into the Kia Business Solutions Portal. This ecosystem provides standardized Fleet Management Systems (FMS) alongside direct-vehicle data APIs, delivering real-time visibility into route efficiency, charge scheduling, and preventive maintenance.
Vehicle reliability is managed via dedicated Uptime services that monitor diagnostic data remotely to identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to fleet downtime.
The PV7 marks a critical expansion of Kia's dedicated PBV operations as the manufacturer prepares to enter volume commercial production in early 2027.
