Updated with new interior spyshots via LFSonataClub

Last month we were talking about another light facelift on the Hyundai Sonata for its local market (South Korea), and today we received this spy pictures directly from there in which one can see the Sonata Fluidic Design with an strong cammo in the front and rear end.

Launched in 2009 in overseas markets, the Hyundai Sonata YF (sources codename the car on the spy shots as “LF”, maybe the next gen?) only receive minor facelifts during this time, this is because we think that those pictures hide a bigger update. Actually we don’t have more information about if this are a facelift or the next-gen model, please stay tuned for more details soon and say what you think!

Looks quite similar to the Mistra Concept the debuted some time back. If applied correctly, I think it will be quite nice. I hope the interior is update as well, as in reworking the steering wheel (only weakness imo) and hopefully making the touchscreen standard but still leaving navigation optional (a la camry).

indeed it looks the same, i've seen the uncovered version of the new LF in korea. the only different is the hexagonal shape of the grill. Mistra has a wing type shape grill where as the new LF continues the hexagonal shape type

Mistra is about the size of the i40 sedan if im not mistaken. the new LF would be about the same size as the current YF.

Also, I'm hoping its closer to the concept Mistra the we saw earlier. The production Mistra is a bit of a let down.

I see the Mistra pretty small than the Sonata LF and YF. If you see photos of the Mistra you see one step behing in quality, design, and interiors than in a Sonata or Optima. It's a fact that the Mistra is for China.

I would say it is more boxy like the Camry / Accord / Optima. Though the LF that i saw was not the final product yet with no sideskirt, no fog lamp like in those spy photos but it was uncovered with no camou.

The new Sonata LF is indeed the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. it looks more bold and tough though.

You have pictures?!!? Yea, I agree, the Mistra is a bit of a step back, more so in the side profile. Not too keen on a Kia esque interior. If there was one thing Hyundai has consistently done better than Kia, it's interiors.

I think that the interior will changes completely (you can see on the pictures above) and also de exterior will look closely to the Genesis Sedan renders, that's Hyundia's designers told. Anyway maybe FS referred to front grille lookings, headlights and taillights inspiration...but I'm sure that the Sonata LF will have a better interior and exterior than the Mistra, a China based Beijing-Hyundai car

It looks like they were testing the Sonata Hybrid too.. can't wait! Maybe they will introduce a Plug In Hybrid!

I wish there were some more revealing pictures. Getting tired of the camo. Give us some artist renders a la Genesis Hyundai.

@FS, can you confirm if what you saw was similar the images that have just gone up?

    1. FS Guest

Yes, but with a different wheel design. Those wheels are from the i40, i would say 80-90% similar

  27. Andrew Guest

Wow, I would be lying if I didn't say I was disappointed. Hope the interior impresses and the rear end isn't as bloated and heavy looking as the Mistra. Looks like I may have consider picking up a 2013 before they run out.
