Genesis G90 Facelift: Everything We Know (Design, Interior, Engines, Release Date)

Genesis G90 facelift

The current Genesis G90 arrived in 2022 as the brand's flagship sedan, and it is now getting its mid-cycle facelift. Since the first prototypes appeared, we have followed it through spy shots in Korea and California, leaked interior photos and renderings. Here is everything we know about the refreshed G90 so far, and we will keep this guide updated until its official reveal.

Genesis G90 Facelift At A Glance

  • Launch: targeted for December 2026 in South Korea.

  • Front: an illuminated Crest grille inspired by the GV90, with a V-shaped lower intake for engine cooling.

  • Rear: new two-line LED taillights.

  • Interior: a coachbuilt-style 3-dial digital instrument cluster and a wide Pleos display similar to the GV90's.

  • Technology: set to be Korea's first production car with Level 3 autonomous driving.

  • Powertrain: the G90 stays a combustion-engine car; the current twin-turbo V6 engines are expected to carry over.

Exterior Design: GV90 Lighting Meets The G90

The early prototypes already hinted at a reworked rear end (first prototype spotted). As the camouflage came off, the new front became clear (less camouflage, new front fascia).

The key styling change is the Crest grille. Its outer frame is now illuminated from edge to edge, the same idea used on the all-electric GV90 SUV (illuminated grille spotted, illuminated grille leaked). Unlike the GV90, the G90 still needs air for its engine and turbochargers, so Genesis has added a sharp V-shaped intake below the grille.

At the back, the G90 gets new two-line LED taillights, in line with the Neolun concept's design language (two-line taillights leaked). Prototypes have also been caught testing on US highways in California (spied in California).

Renderings based on the spy shots preview the finished design (front rendering, rear rendering).

Interior: 3-Dial Cluster And Pleos Display

While the recent G80 and GV80 updates moved to wide panoramic screens, the G90 takes a more bespoke, coachbuilt approach. Leaked photos show a retro-classic 3-dial digital instrument cluster and a wide central Pleos display that closely mirrors the one in the GV90 (interior revealed, Pleos display spotted). One of those photos even showed the new front design on the car's own Pleos Connect screen (front design leaked on screen). A rendering shows how the finished cabin could look (interior rendering).

Level 3 Autonomous Driving

According to ETNews, the facelifted G90 will be South Korea's first production car with Level 3 autonomous driving (Level 3 confirmed). On designated highways, the car can take full control, allowing the driver to take their hands off the wheel and eyes off the road under specific conditions. The system uses LiDAR, radar and cameras managed by a new integrated autonomous driving control unit. Hyundai Motor Group first aimed for Level 3 in 2023 but delayed it for more testing.

Engines

The G90 remains a combustion-engine flagship, powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. The version with a 48-volt electric supercharger raised output from 380 to 415 PS in Korean certification, about 35 hp more in the US (electric supercharger). These engines are expected to carry over. Genesis has not confirmed any electrified G90 for the facelift.

Release Date

Early reports pointed to the third quarter of 2026, but the refreshed G90 is now targeted for a December 2026 launch in South Korea (December launch confirmed). It should reach other markets during 2027, and for the US it is likely to be sold as a 2028 model year. Genesis has not confirmed US timing yet.

Price

Pricing has not been announced. For reference, the current-generation G90 launched in the US from $88,400 (G90 US pricing). With Level 3 autonomous driving and the new technology, expect the facelift to cost more.
