While a few days ago we gave you bad news abouth the 2021 Genesis G70 facelift, that will not receive updated 2.5 & 3.5-liter engines after all, today we have more bad news, you just need to take a look to the picture above. Yes, this is 2021 Genesis G70 and the way the introduced the new Genesis design language maybe is not the best, but this is all. We also have a picture of the rear design, which is better but nothing special, and also has the 2.0T badge, which we think is the confirmation of what we announced a few days ago.
Initially, there was a news that a new powertrain such as Stinger will be applied, replacing the existing 2.0 and 3.3 Turbo engines with the new Smartstream 2.5 and 3.5 Turbo engines but after checking the latest news, the G70 facelift has been tested with the existing series 4-cylinder 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine, V6 3.3-liter gasoline turbo engine, and 4-cylinder 2.2 diesel engine.
Of course, it is known that an improved engine with a slightly higher output and improved driving texture is introduced, and the exhaust sound pointed out in the previous model is being improved. As the variable exhaust system is applied, it is expected to enjoy sporty exhaust sound when the driving mode is set into sports.
Meanwhile, what Genesis CEO William Lee said in a interview with a foreign news agency that the G70 partial change wagon will be released came true and we already have seen the first spy pictures. The G70 wagon or Shooting Brake is aimed at the European market and will be released late 2021. It will compete with the BMW 3 Series Touring, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate, and the Audi A4 Avant.
The Genesis G70 Facelift exterior design has been significantly changed in order to meet the new Genesis family look as well as the new powertrain premiered on latest Genesis GV80 SUV and G80 sedan. The G70 facelift is expected to be released during the 1st half of 2021 with several updates in & out, like a 10.25-inch wide display, a new powertrain or up to 19 colors, something that we already have seen in the new GV80 & G80.
The front part of the G70 partial change has the same quad lamp scheme with the same two lines as the new G80 and a newly designed crest grille. The turn signals are integrated with daytime running lights, apparently the G70 facelift won’t include the two-line side fender repetears (this is also something that the GV70, G70 derivative SUV won’t get too).
On the back, the license plate moves to the lower bumper along with the quad rear lamp, which has recently been revealed through a test car. The place where the existing license plate was mounted is replaced by new Genesis Lettering. The side part improves the completeness by changing the details of the decoration on the fender.
Inside, the infotainment monitor is expanded from the current 8 inches to 10.25 inches, and the new steering wheel with touch is applied to change the atmosphere. It’s also expected that it receives Genesis Connected Services as well as latest security aids.
They probably want it to look like a diamond, but it looks like a giant beak out-of-proportion with the rest of the car.
drop the 4 cylinder, give it a minimum of 400hp w/AWD and it’s fine
