The Hyundai Azera is one the few cars missing for a new generation and photos of the sixth generation are brought to us thanks to the guys from Carpix.
The Azera is Hyundai’s full-size sedan that was always in the shadow of his younger brother Genesis Sedan. There are no doubts of the popularity of the Genesis sedan by selling a total of 29,992 units in 2014 and 31,375 units in 2015 compare to 7,232 units in 2014 and 5,539 units in 2015 by the Azera.
Since Hyundai Motor Company created the Genesis brand, many of Hyundai’s luxury models has migrated to the new brand and the idea of making it as G70 to the Genesis has always been in the air but recent information we obtain tell us the new Azera will not move from the Hyundai brand, but will stay as their top end model for Hyundai. Maybe now the Azera might get some of the sales his younger brother gained with its new design while in the Hyundai brand.
The current has the 3.3 Liter V6 engine, pushing 293 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. This very same engine was used for the new G90 but with twin turbo pushing 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque setting some new healthy numbers out this engine. We don’t know yet if this engine will be an additional for the new generation or not but we got new details of a new engine coming, that is a 3.5 Liter V6 engine producing approximately 300+ hp. We dont have much details about this engine but as soon as we get more details we’ll be sure to post it.
With the new generation coming up, there are some questions we wonder ourselves. Will the Azera get more room to breath since the Genesis sedan is not there any more? Is Hyundai making a mistake by keeping the Azera? Do you guys think Hyundai should remain with the Sonata as their top of the line car like other manufactures did

13 commentsDue to very poor sale in Canada the AZERA is not available in canada since 2010.
Indeed, the Azera sales are not the greatest in Hyundai's books.
The Azera name needs to go away and they need a different name and new marketing if they plan on keeping this car.
kinda sorta wish Hyundai would bring updated Aslan and replace Azera altogether... that car had potential but was placed badly between Azera and Genesis sedan, not to mention poor PR as well...
Either way, the name Azera does not create a good sounding name for a car. Hyundai should reboot this car with a new more pleasing sounding name.
I like the Aslan better than the Azera and hope for the same thing.
The grille looks very similar to the G90 and G80 facelift...could this be the G70? Doesn't make sense for Hyundai models to adopt Genesis designs.
Yes, it could the G70 too.
This is the G70, if you look at the belt line and how the chrome window surround curves upwards, and then compare it to this picture it's fairly evident.
Am I the only one who thinks this could be the next Sonata!?! There was talk of an early update due to the lack of excitement the current generation produced.
The Azera was never going to jump to the Genesis brand as it is FWD (the Genesis brand is going to be exclusively RWD/AWD) and is the competitor to the likes of the Avalon, Impala, etc.
The Azera will be in the ballpark of pricing for the G70.
For sure the Azera was never going to jump the Genesis, it'll be left as the higher end for Hyundai.
