현대 아제라는 신형으로 거듭나지 못한 몇 안 되는 차량 중 하나다. Carpix가 6세대 사진을 공개했다.
아제라는 현대의 대형 세단으로, 항상 동생인 제네시스 세단의 그늘에 가려져 있었다. 제네시스 세단의 인기는 의심할 여지가 없으며, 2014년 2만 9,992대, 2015년 3만 1,375대가 판매된 반면, 아제라는 2014년 7,232대, 2015년 5,539대에 그쳤다.
현대자동차가 제네시스 브랜드를 창설한 이후, 현대의 많은 럭셔리 모델이 새 브랜드로 이동했으며, 아제라를 G70으로 만들어 제네시스에 편입시키는 방안이 항상 거론되어 왔다. 그러나 최근 입수한 정보에 따르면, 신형 아제라는 현대 브랜드에 남아 최상위 모델로 자리 잡을 예정이다. 어쩌면 아제라는 현대 브랜드 내에서 새로운 디자인으로 동생이 얻었던 판매량 일부를 가져올 수도 있을 것이다.
현재 모델은 3.3리터 V6 엔진을 탑재해 293마력, 255lb-ft의 토크를 발휘한다. 이 엔진은 신형 G90에도 사용되었지만, 트윈 터보가 적용되어 365마력, 376lb-ft의 토크를 내며 더욱 강력한 성능을 보여준다. 이 엔진이 신형 아제라에 추가로 적용될지는 아직 알 수 없지만, 새로운 엔진에 대한 정보가 있다. 바로 3.5리터 V6 엔진으로, 약 300마력 이상을 생산할 것으로 예상된다. 이 엔진에 대한 자세한 내용은 아직 알려지지 않았으며, 추가 정보가 입수되는 대로 게시할 예정이다.
신형이 출시를 앞두고 몇 가지 의문이 든다. 제네시스 세단이 더 이상 존재하지 않으니 아제라가 더 숨 쉴 공간을 얻게 될까? 현대가 아제라를 유지하는 것이 실수일까? 독자들은 현대가 다른 제조사처럼 쏘나타를 최상위 라인업으로 유지해야 한다고 생각하는가?

Indeed, the Azera sales are not the greatest in Hyundai's books.
The Azera name needs to go away and they need a different name and new marketing if they plan on keeping this car.
kinda sorta wish Hyundai would bring updated Aslan and replace Azera altogether... that car had potential but was placed badly between Azera and Genesis sedan, not to mention poor PR as well...
Either way, the name Azera does not create a good sounding name for a car. Hyundai should reboot this car with a new more pleasing sounding name.
I like the Aslan better than the Azera and hope for the same thing.
The grille looks very similar to the G90 and G80 facelift...could this be the G70? Doesn't make sense for Hyundai models to adopt Genesis designs.
Yes, it could the G70 too.
This is the G70, if you look at the belt line and how the chrome window surround curves upwards, and then compare it to this picture it's fairly evident.
Am I the only one who thinks this could be the next Sonata!?! There was talk of an early update due to the lack of excitement the current generation produced.
