The Hyundai IONIQ 3 is an upcoming electric vehicle from Hyundai, expected to debut and go on sale sometime in 2025. It’s Hyundai’s response to compete with the VW ID.2 and the Renault 5 and could also have a N performance variant. We joined our colleague Sustain to create a rendering in order to imagine how it could look.

The IONIQ 3 will be part of Hyundai’s Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA), which standardizes chassis, battery systems, and motors to allow the use of common components. This approach is aimed at reducing development and production costs. Hyundai plans to introduce six types of battery packs for its IMA platform, some featuring Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) chemistry and others Nickel Cobalt Manganese (NCM) chemistry. All these battery packs are designed to operate at a high voltage of 800 volts.

The IONIQ 3 is expected to have a range of at least 250 miles to remain competitive in its segment. Despite being an entry-level vehicle, it may not include many of the new technologies Hyundai plans for its eM platform-based EVs, such as B-pillarless and swing doors, first-row swivel seats, and long-sliding second-row seats, as the focus for IONIQ 3 is on affordability.

Hyundai is planning to reduce the cost of NCM cell batteries for its eM platform EVs by 40% as compared to NCM cell batteries of the E-GMP platform by 2030.

Stay tuned on Sunday for full reveal!
