Genesis Magma Racing has officially revealed the special livery that will be carried by the team’s pair of GMR-001 Hypercars for their highly anticipated debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The striking design marks a return to the Magma-inspired aesthetic originally showcased at the Genesis area of the Manufacturer Village during the 2025 event, blending high-performance engineering with deep cultural storytelling.
Inspired by Korean Energy and Culture
The livery’s vibrant color palette draws direct inspiration from the molten lava at the heart of the "Magma" name—a nod to the volcanic origins of the Korean peninsula and the immense energy that lies just beneath the surface of South Korea.
This concept of "power below the surface" is a defining characteristic of Korean culture, often embodied by the humble confidence shown by the country’s people in the public eye. Like them, Genesis Magma Racing holds high targets and the confidence to achieve them, balanced with a grounded, humble approach for its debut year in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Focus on Reliability for WEC Debut
Despite surprising the paddock by scoring points in just its second-ever championship race at last month’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the team remains intensely focused on the reliability of the GMR-001 Hypercar. The primary objective remains conquering the brutal challenge of reaching the finish line in its first 24-hour race.
“For the entire Genesis brand, including of course Genesis Magma Racing, design is one of the foundational pillars,” said Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke. “Fans and supporters have been vocal in their love of the Magma Orange concept livery that was unveiled last year, and, as always, Genesis takes our supporters’ feedback into consideration by bringing it to reality with a bold evolution. More than a race livery, it’s an artful statement - where colour and form convey the unique performance identity of Genesis.”

The Anatomy of the GMR-001 Design
The visual flow of the GMR-001 Hypercar is engineered to convey motion even when stationary.
The paint scheme transitions seamlessly from a signature Magma Orange at the front—symbolizing Korea’s vibrant energy—to a deep red at the rear. This shift evokes a sense of rising intensity, mirroring both the temperature of a high-performance engine and the acoustic Doppler effect of a prototype passing at full speed.
Additionally, the livery features the Hangeul lettering for “Magma” (마그마) stretching across the length of the chassis. It is presented in a contrasting gradient that runs inversely from red at the front to Magma Orange at the rear.
Both the #17 and #19 entries will carry the design, with subtle differences to help fans distinguish them on track:
The #17 Hypercar features traditional orange and black accents.
The #19 Hypercar sports crisp white Genesis and Genesis Magma Racing logos along with additional design highlights.
Working with Technical Partner HEXIS to Perfect the Design
Creating a visual masterpiece that can survive the grueling environment of the Circuit de la Sarthe required elite technical collaboration. Genesis global design worked hand-in-hand with the racing team and Technical Partner HEXIS to create a striking yet lightweight livery for the biggest race of the 2026 WEC season.
Using the latest generation of ultra-conformable wrapping films from HEXIS, the team perfected a gradient design that shifts beautifully under changing light conditions—from the bright afternoon sun to the dead of night on the Mulsanne Straight.
Performance-Driven Paint Protection
To ensure the cars look pristine for the entire 24 hours without adding unnecessary weight, the team utilized HEXIS BODYFENCE paint protection film. This advanced, invisible armor protects the graphics against high-velocity airflow, intense thermal heat, and track debris like gravel or tire grit, maintaining a high-gloss finish across more than 3,000 miles of racing.
A Defining Moment for Genesis Magma Racing
The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans represents the culmination of a rapid build-up since the team's inception in December 2024.
“The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the biggest weekend of our year,” said Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul. “It is the toughest test we face during the FIA WEC season, especially as a team in our first season, but it is also our biggest opportunity to show the identity of Genesis and Genesis Magma Racing to the world through racing.”
Abiteboul added: “Since we launched the team, Magma has been a key part of our name and our identity, so to be able to bring Genesis Magma fully to life on track is very important. The cars look fantastic, and as a team we will be working to make sure our performance matches the level of attention that has gone into creating the designs.”
