어제 제네시스 G70 슈팅 브레이크 렌더링 이미지 한 쌍을 공개한 데 이어, 제네시스 CEO 윌리엄 리가 지난 2월 Car and Driver와의 인터뷰에서 "해당 차종을 연구 중"이라고 밝힌 가운데, 오늘 Motor1.com과 협력해 올뉴 G80 디자인 메이킹 필름 영상에서 6대의 라인업 이미지를 발견했다. 이미지를 밝게 보정한 결과 흥미로운 실루엣이 드러났다.
왼쪽부터 GV80, GV70, G80, G70 슈팅 브레이크?, 에센시아, 민트 순서다. G70 슈팅 브레이크는 내년에 공개될 것으로 예상되는 페이스리프트 G70을 기반으로 개발될 것이다. G70은 제네시스의 새로운 디자인 언어가 적용된 마지막 모델로, 쿼드 헤드램프와 테일램프, 브랜드가 '크레스트 그릴'이라 부르는 새로운 시그니처 그릴이 특징이다.
이는 최근 공개된 GV80 SUV, 올뉴 G80 프리미엄 세단, 중형 GV70 크로스오버 SUV의 뒤를 이을 것이다. G70 슈팅 브레이크는 특히 BMW 3시리즈 투어링과 아우디 A4 아반트가 큰 인기를 끌며 기본 세단 모델보다 훨씬 많은 판매량을 기록하고 있는 유럽 시장을 겨냥할 것이다.
G70 슈팅 브레이크가 북미 시장에 출시될지는 불분명하다. 하지만 이는 수많은 찬사를 받은 G70 네임플레이트의 완벽한 확장이 될 것이라고 생각한다. G70은 성능 지향의 후륜구동 플랫폼과 경쟁 차종 중 유일하게 수동변속기가 제공된다는 점에서 그 가치를 인정받고 있다.
독일 프리미엄 자동차 제조사와 캐딜락이 수동변속기 버전과 스테이션 왜건 같은 이색적인 라인업을 없애는 가운데, 제네시스가 그 바통을 이어받는 것은 고무적이다. 한국 브랜드가 한 걸음 더 나아가 슈팅 브레이크를 미국 시장에도 조기 출시하기를 기대한다.

댓글 4개This teaser seems to be a lineup of all new and future product. The G70 will only be face lifted for next year and the G60 name is already trademarked, maybe this a new entry model. There was speculation that something along the lines of the old 1-series hatchback (A/CLA, A3, and now CT4) was in the works and Genesis could actually have the segment on fire with a new RWD hatch or shooting brake model.
Two high riders, four low riders. Pretty sure that ain't a good strategy these days if you wanna grow the brand. Heck even Bentley and Lambo, their best seller are SUVs. Gotta rethink this Genesis. GV60 and GV90 are more needed asap than two doors or shooting brake.
The car that I'm most concerned about is that coupe. Two seater coupes are pointless. If your going to make a coupe it should be about the size of the BMW 8-Series and a four door coupe should be close by it's side. It should be rear wheel drive based and it should have all wheel drive as an option if not completely standard for the model .They need to build a performance SUV like Audi or Lambo
