Beijing Hyundai has officially pulled the curtain back on the IONIQ V, a medium-sized electric sedan that marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for the brand in China. Emerging from recent Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filings and its debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the IONIQ V is the first production model under a sub-brand tailored specifically for the Chinese market.
With a design philosophy rooted in "Global Quality + Chinese Wisdom," the IONIQ V combines Hyundai’s world-class engineering with cutting-edge local intelligence.
Performance and Base Range
The IONIQ V is built on the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), a dedicated pure-electric architecture that allows for superior efficiency and cabin space.
Exceptional Range: The long-range version of the IONIQ V delivers over 600 km (CLTC standard) on a single charge, making it a competitive choice for both urban commutes and long-distance travel.
800V High-Voltage Fast Charging: One of the standout features of the IONIQ V is its 800V architecture, which enables ultra-fast charging speeds, significantly reducing downtime at charging stations.
Power Variants: The vehicle will offer two single-motor power options:
140 kW (Standard)
168 kW (High Performance)
Battery Partnership: To ensure reliability and localized supply, the car is compatible with CATL Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries.

"The Origin" Design: A Visual Revolution
Led by the Hyundai China Design Center, the IONIQ V introduces "The Origin" design language. It is a striking departure from previous models, emphasizing a "one-curve" silhouette and a futuristic, wedge-shaped body.
Exterior Highlights: The car features a multi-faceted three-dimensional body, frameless doors, and distinctive V-shaped wheels.
Lighting Signature: "Dimensional Light Blade" split light groups at the front and "Star Rail" taillights at the rear give the car a sharp, digital-age identity.
Aerodynamics: Sharp lines and a low wind-resistance styling are integrated to maximize efficiency and range.
Body Dimensions:
Length: 4900 mm
Width: 1890 mm
Height: 1470 mm
Wheelbase: 2900 mm (Positioning it as a spacious medium-sized sedan).
Smart Tech and "Nebula" Interior
The interior, described as a "Nebula Embracing" design, focuses on immersion and seamless connectivity.
Visual Centerpiece: A massive 27-inch ultra-thin 4K panoramic screen spans the dashboard, powered by a Qualcomm flagship cockpit chip.
AI Integration: In a move to lead in "Chinese Wisdom," the IONIQ V integrates the Wenxin (Ernie) Large Model for advanced voice interaction and technical support from the Volcano Engine (ByteDance).
Immersive Driving: Features include a Cyber Eye HUD (Head-Up Display) and a 3D nebula ambient lighting system that reacts to the vehicle's environment.
Strategic Vision
The IONIQ V is more than just a new car; it is the spearhead of Beijing Hyundai's plan to launch 20 new models in China over the next five years. By blending Hyundai’s global manufacturing standards with China’s leading software ecosystem—including partners like CATL, Momenta, and Baidu—Beijing Hyundai aims to reclaim a dominant position in the world's most competitive EV market.
