이런 기사를 써야 한다는 사실이 유감스럽지만, 안타깝게도 사실이다. 기아는 K5 왜건(기아 스포트스페이스 콘셉트 기반)을 출시하지 않기로 결정했다.
한국 자동차 제조사가 지난 3월 제네바 모터쇼에서 기아 스포트스페이스 콘셉트를 공개했을 때, 미디어와 기아 팬들, 그리고 기아 팬뿐만 아니라 이 콘셉트카가 양산 모델로 이어질 가능성에 큰 기대가 모아졌다.
이 나쁜 소식은 기아의 미국 법인에서 전해졌다. 기아자동차 미국법인(KMA) 제품 기획 부사장인 오스 헨드릭스는 Auto Guide와의 인터뷰에서 뉴욕 오토쇼 기간 중 이렇게 말했다. “우리는 검토해 봤다. 아름다운 차이고, 특히 유럽에서는 왜건을 선호하기 때문에 큰 이슈가 될 것은 분명하다.” 라고 그는 말했다.
“하지만 회사는 기아 스포트스페이스 콘셉트가 쏘렌토와 라인업이 겹칠 것이며, 생산 비용을 정당화할 만큼 충분한 구매자를 확보하지 못할 것이라고 판단했다.” 라고 덧붙였다.
자, 오늘은 정말 안 좋은 날이다. 그렇지 않은가? 🙁
기아는 이번 EV4가 전용 전기차 라인업을 강화하는 중요한 모델이 될 것이라고 밝혔다. EV4는 EV3, EV5, EV6, EV9과 함께 기아의 전기차 포트폴리오를 완성하는 역할을 할 예정이다.
기아 EV4의 가격은 아직 공개되지 않았지만, EV3(약 3만~4만 달러)와 EV5(약 4만~5만 달러) 사이에 위치할 것으로 예상된다. EV4는 2025년 하반기부터 글로벌 시장에 출시될 가능성이 높으며, 국내 시장에도 동시에 출시될 것으로 보인다.

댓글 4개Hi Kia lover, well the thing is, with the current optima prices on my hand, a future Optima wagon well equipped and with 150 hp probably cost 35.000€, while for the same price you have a Sorento. Its sad, but is what the people wants, SUVs.
As an estate, it isn't so much a loss as even the Europeans are moving from wagons to small CUVs, but Kia needs to make the front end of the Optima more like that of the Sportspace for its MCE (as well as the rear/taillights); and further down the road, the basic greenhouse shape for the Sportspace should be used for the next gen Sorento (just giving it a bit more glass as needed for a CUV).
Conflicting report from Drive.au dated the 2nd stating that the Sportspace has been greenlit for Europe and that Kia Australia is pondering it.
That's a shame. The SportSpace was the first Kia that ever got me excited. I guess my next vehicle won't be a Kia afterall.
