Hyundai Motor Company officially unveiled the 8th-generation The All-New Avante for the first time at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show.
As a complete generation overhaul six years after the 7th-generation model debuted in 2020, the all-new Avante breaks new ground for compact sedans. It features Hyundai’s next-generation infotainment system, Pleos Connect, and a generative AI assistant, Gleo AI, transforming the vehicle into a true Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV). As digital renders often exaggerate light reflections on metallic edges, making vehicles look sharper than they appear in natural light. We just want to share real-world, high-resolution live photos from the Busan show floor, so now you can see how the Avante's proportions settle in real life!
Exclusive Insight: Our Renderings Were 90% Accurate!
If you followed our exclusive coverage leading up to the launch, you might notice a striking sense of familiarity. The final production design of the all-new Avante is almost identical to the 3D renderings we previously shared.
Looking at the physical car side-by-side with our images, our predictions achieved over 90% accuracy. In fact, there is only one noticeable design difference:
The Connected Lightbars: In our early renderings, the front and rear lightbars were shown as fully continuous, connected strips. On the actual production vehicle, the horizontal LED strips stop just short of connecting fully in the center, framing the distinct "H-Edge Lighting" signature instead.
Why Does It Look So Aggressive and Angular?
Many fans have pointed out that the new Avante looks incredibly sharp, geometric, and highly angular. While the "Art of Steel" design philosophy naturally relies on crisp, structural lines, this aggressive look was heavily amplified by Hyundai's official 3D digital distribution renderings and the newly introduced matte exterior paint finishes, such as Kodiak Blue Matte and Raptor Gray Matte.

Design and Dimensions: Stepping Into Mid-Size Territory
The all-new Avante embraces a traditional 3-box sedan silhouette but scales up significantly. The vehicle is now 4,765mm long (+55mm), 1,855mm wide (+30mm), and 1,425mm tall, riding on a stretched 2,750mm wheelbase (+30mm). This growth spurt pushes its interior cabin volume into the mid-size segment.
Key Exterior Features:
Front: The "H-Edge Lighting" signature daytime running lights are positioned at the extreme edges, making the car look wider and lower.
Side Profile: Features a long hood, sleek "slim-neck" side mirrors, lift-up flush door handles, and aggressive 18-inch geometric 5-spoke wheels.
Rear: Complemented by a sportier integrated trunk lid spoiler, vertical auxiliary brake light, and an aerodynamic diffuser.
Power and Efficiency: Upgraded 2.0L and 1.6L Hybrid
Hyundai is catering to both performance and efficiency enthusiasts by splitting the powertrain lineups into two options:
Gasoline 2.0: Delivers 149 PS (a 26 PS increase over the previous generation's 1.6L base engine), paired with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) for effortless daily cruising.
Smartstream Gasoline 1.6 Hybrid: Features optimized transmission architecture, enhanced electric motor output, and improved battery capacity to push a combined system output of 157 PS.
The Hybrid variant introduces Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0, which handles automatic deceleration down to a full stop based on navigation data and forward traffic. It also debuts Stay Mode, a feature allowing passengers to run the climate control and infotainment system purely on battery power while parked without turning on the combustion engine.

Next-Gen Technology: Pleos Connect & Gleo AI
The crown jewel of the interior is the Android Automotive OS (AAOS)-driven Pleos Connect system, displayed on an ultra-wide 14.6-inch or 12.9-inch central screen. The system acts as a highly personalized mobility assistant. Driven by a Large Language Model (LLM), Gleo AI can engage in continuous natural dialogue, handle complex information searches, and proactively recommend travel itineraries.
Safety and First-in-Class Features
Hyundai has packed the Avante with segment-transcending Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including two proprietary brand-first safety technologies:
Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2 (NSCC 2): Now works on regular city and rural roads, automatically slowing down for speed bumps, corners, and intersections.
SBW P-Stage Emergency Braking: In a critical situation, pressing the electronic shifter’s 'P' button will immediately restrict acceleration and safely bring the vehicle to a halt.
Pedal Misapplication Safety Assist (PMSA): Restricts torque and applies brakes if the driver mistakenly stomps on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake at low speeds.
Additional features include a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system, Built-in Cam 2 Plus, Dual Wireless Charging ports, and 100W ultra-fast USB-C charging ports.
Launch Timeline
Hyundai plans to open official order books and release final pricing and fuel economy ratings during the third quarter of 2026. Prospective buyers can register on Hyundai's official website for the "Early Pass" event running until August 2nd to secure priority test drives and exclusive purchase incentives.
