2016 Hyundai Tucson Finally Revealed

Today we were covering the 2016 Hyundai Tucson launch event here in Berlin, Germany. Directly from here, we want to show you the first pictures and details we have.

Since launched in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the second generation Hyundai Tucson (also called ix35 in European markets) was a total hit for Hyundai. For Hyundai, improve ix35 design will be a very difficult task, without becoming a bit bored.

And my opinion directly from the launch event is that Hyundai has succeed. The car looks better than ever, with a bold and premium design, a big prominent Hexagonal front grille. The interior is a mix of latest Hyundai models, with a center console inspired by the Santa Fe, a speedometer and steering directly from the Sonata. LED tailights follow how we saw on the i20 and will see on the Elantra.

About engine line-up, the surprise are the inclusion of a 1.6 T-GDi with 180 hp and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. In the diesel side, improved 1.7 CRDi 116 hp, will be the most desired into European market. A 2.0 with 136 and 190 hp will complete the diesel range. The petrol range will be completed by NA 1.6 Gamma GDi like in the current ix35. For the moment, any news about small turbo engines like the 1.2 T-GDi delivering 132 hp.

Stay tuned for more info soon!

No way! I can’t believe they are going to sale a 30.000 € car without an electric handbrake!!! How much more does it cost?

    C’mon!!! That’s not serious!

What are you guys talking about? It’s not trying to compete with the likes of an X3 or a Q5, it’s class competitive. The Mazda CX-5, Rav4, CRV, need I go on all have manual handbrakes. Is it really that difficult to pull a lever?

Anyway, there is no point at all in saving 30€ installing a manual handbrake instead of an electric one. Guys, we’re in 2015… and it makes absolutely no sense.

by the way, Nissan Qashqai does have electric handbrake… and while it’s not a premium car, it’s been sales leader in its segment.

Looking good. The only thing is, haven’t we already seen the upper portion of the center console in the last generation Genesis sedan?

I think Peter Schreyer likes that upper portion form the previous Genesis sedan.
