Heute möchten wir neue Erlkönigfotos des 2016 Kia Sportage (Codename QL) mit euch teilen, die wir unserem Leser Jimbo verdanken ;).
Die neuesten Berichte verorten die Premiere auf September, einige Monate später als ursprünglich, bedingt durch die Markteinführung des neuen Tucson.
Der neue 2016 Kia Sportage wird sich stark am Design des nur in China erhältlichen Kia KX3 orientieren, insbesondere an der Frontpartie. Innen wird der Sportage dem folgen, was wir bereits im neuen Sorento gesehen haben. Laut Bericht hat das Kia-Designteam das Design des Sportage bereits abgeschlossen.
An der Front dieses Prototyps erkennen wir einen größeren Tiger-Nose-Kühlergrill in 3D-Optik zwischen neuen Wickelscheinwerfern und eiswürfelförmigen LED-Leuchten, wie im neuen Sorento oder pro_cee'd GT. Gleichzeitig hat Kia dieselbe Lösung beim K5 Modern verwendet, mit drei kugelförmigen LEDs in den Scheinwerfern. Am Heck kommen neu gestaltete LED-Rückleuchten zum Einsatz, die wie beim aktuellen Modell mit separaten Rückfahr- und Blinkleuchten kombiniert werden.
Beim Antriebsangebot wird ein 7-Gang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe zum Marktstart erhältlich sein, neben einer Auswahl an Benzin-Direkteinspritzern und Dieselmotoren sowie kleinen Turbomotoren. Auf der Dieselseite könnte der verbesserte 1.7 CRDi mit 131 PS der meistgefragte auf dem europäischen Markt sein. Bei den Benzinern wird der 1.6 GDi der Basismotor sein, während eine Turbo-Variante für das europäische Modell mehr Leistung bieten wird. Ein brandneuer kleiner Turbomotor, der 1.2 T-GDi mit 132 PS, ist noch nicht bestätigt.
Das südkoreanische Modellangebot wird auf den 1.7 CRDi mit 7-Gang-DCT und 2.0 CRDi-Dieselmotoren sowie einen 2.0 T-GDi-Motor reduziert.

I would like to know what this Niro prototype is all about. There are rumours about a hybrid chubby Ceed. There is also the possibility of it being a less ugly KX3. C pillar looks like KX3. But I'm hoping its front grill will have a redesign for Europe. We'll find out in a few months.

The best looking KIA front ( and anything else) at the moment is the new Sorentos front. It has the most beautiful headlights showing beauty and seriousness at the same time. That kind of fronts is what KIA needs for all the other models. And then look to KIAs top ranking in terms of selling figures
Kia designers probably wanted to do something different, but the Sportage will go from being one of the best looking smaller CUVs to one that is polarizing.
Couldn't agree more. I've been planing to upgrade my new Ceed to either the 2016 Sportage or the new Tucson. I would have loved to stay with KIA. But I'm worried that the new Sportage will be a Porsche knockoff rather than the original and unique SUV that it is today. I'm so glad the new Tucson looks the way it does (mini Santa Fe). Will leave the final decision until I see the next Sportage up close. But I'm not holding my breath.
As i already wrote here: Even your posted picture of the Rio JBs front looks better then the new Optimas front and of course the KX3 front.

Change the grill to the "tiger-nose" and the new Tucson would pretty much look like a Kia.
