기아 K9은 K9 새로운 유닛으로 개발을 계속하고 있다. 현대 에쿠스 플랫폼을 기반으로 하는 현대 에쿠스 K9은 429마력의 5.0 V8 GDi 엔진과 새로운 자체 개발 8단 자동변속기를 탑재할 가능성이 있다.
한국에서 다시 포착됐으며, V6 및 V8 가솔린 직분사(GDi) 엔진과 8단 자동변속기가 포함될 것으로 예상된다.
