Hyundai Motor’s compact sedan Avante retook the top spot in domestic sales in 11 months. Hyundai Motor announced on September 1 that the domestic sales of Avante stood at 8,194 units last month, overtaking Sonata’s 7,307.
[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:15px;”]This was the first time for Avante to gain the top spot in domestic sales since August 2013. Since then, the Avante has ranked between No. 2 and No. 4, falling behind Hyundai Motor’s Porter, Grandeur, and Sonata.
The Avante, which was released first in October 1990, has been sold 9.87 million units both at home and abroad. The model, accordingly, is expected to pass the 10-million mark in global sales, first among Korean-made cars.
To celebrate Avante’s comeback to the top spot, Hyundai Motor plans to launch a special promotion event starting from this month, including a 1-percent discount on the sale price of the car or a 1-percent interest from car loan. The next-gen Avante was caught under development recently.
