Hyundai released today in South Korea and complete the 2016 Sonata model range with two new variants (from a total of 7). The Sonata diesel and the Sonata 1.6 Turbo.
[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]After a lot of rumors and spy shots, Hyundai finally launched a Sonata Diesel model in a way to compete with its European rivals, which its sales are growing and cutting Hyundai’s market share. The diesel variant of the Sonata adopted a 1.7 Liter U2 engine, which is alredy used for i40 sedan, delivering 141 hp.
Hyundai also added a 1.6 T-GDi engine delivering 180 hp recently used in the latest releases such as the new Kia K5 and Hyundai Tucson. With these new engine variants, the company also managed to offer a 7-speed DCT transmission. Hyundai also offered the 2016 Sonata with a 2.0 Turbo, 2.0 CVVl, 2.0 LPi, Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid.
The Gamma 1.6 T-GDi engine, which was developed over a period of 52 months and cost 69.5 billion won, achieves the best performance figures in its class where the competition is the toughest.
