According to CarsDirect, the Kia Stinger will suffer some changes when the 2020 model goes on sale. An early order guide reveals that Kia has opted to limit the entry-level turbo engine to just a single trim in exchange for styling elements from the pricier Stinger GT, so will add the GT-Line trim.

The 2020 Stingers will drop the 2.0T Base and Premium styles, instead offering a new trim called the GT-Line with an MSRP of $34,085 including destination. For just $100 more than the outgoing base trim, shoppers will get some sportier design cues for a lot less money than a GT. The GT-Line trim were available in European markets since Stinger launch.

The new GT-Line adds a slew of exterior enhancements like a GT-styled grille and bumpers, 18-inch GT wheels, black chrome trim, and body-color door handles. Inside, drivers will get a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, black headliner, and “GT-Line” embossed on the front headrests.

With the changes, the GT-Line could be an appealing choice for those satisfied with the 255-hp base engine. However, taking home a full-blooded GT with its 365-hp 3.3T engine will result in a steeper step up in terms of price. That’s because the GT will start at $40,495, $6,410 more than the GT-Line.

In the 2019 Stinger, the 2.0T Premium offers more features than the base trim but at a price of $40,185 ($110 less than the cheapest GT). That said, the loss of the Premium trim means that advanced safety features like automatic emergency braking require stepping up to the over-$46,000 GT1.

Mechanically, specs remain unchanged for both engines and a manual transmission remains off the table. Rear-wheel-drive remains standard, while all-wheel-drive is a $2,200 option across the range.
