In a mysterious video screenshot took by DailyCar we can have a first look at Hyundai’s Ioniq Large SUV as they currently called it. The IONIQ 7 SUV is scheduled to arrive to the US-market in 2024. Thoughts?
What we know so far?
During the presentation of IONIQ as Hyundai’s electric sub-brand, the South Korean automaked scheduled the launch of the Ioniq 6 sedan to be released in 2022, while the Ioniq 7 large SUV was expected to 2024.
According to the latest reports from South Korea, Hyundai plans to anticipate the launch of the large electric SUV in order to targeting North American market, and yesterady Hyundai confirmed that will arrive as MY2024. It also reveals that the Ioniq 7 would likely come with new SK Innovation battery packs.
Like with the Ioniq 5, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7 will be based on the same All-New Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The dedicated electric vehicle platform is capable of ultra fast charging, reaching a 80-percent in just 18 minutes thanks to its 800-volt battery voltage and the 350 kW charging capacity.
Both the sedan and the SUV should take advantage of the E-GMP and thanks to a longer wheelbase we can expect to have a longer range for these models thanks to expanding the energy density of battery packs, to around 400/450 miles (550/630 km). Hyundai confirmed that the larger SUV will have a 100 kWh battery pack. Inside the IONIQ 7 will have 6-seater/7-seater options.
It’s expected that when launched, the IONIQ 7 will have the latest safety and tech, like the Highway Driving Pilot, a system that will be premiered on the 4th gen Genesis G90 by the end of 2021 and will made capable to reach Autonomous Level 3. New G90 will also premiere Air Suspension and rear-axle steering (like the recently released Mercedes S-class), this could be a great option for a car of this size.
For sure, all of the new features of the recently released IONIQ 5 will be available for the larger SUV, like the Vehicle 2 Load, camera mirrors, AR Navigation or even solar roof, that in vehicle of this size could be even more capable to add extra range.
What do you expect?
