We recently shared next generation Hyundai Santa Fe (codenamed as MX5) interior completely leaked and today we have another view of the upcoming mid-sized SUV. The picture above shows the chassis body of the new boxy Santa Fe that was spied in a factory in South Korea.
Even with the camouflage it looks like a Korean version of the Land Rover Defender, a car that has been seen as a comparison vehicle in both Korea and Germany, now if you take a look inside, you will also feel that with a styling very similar to Land Rover models, specially in the HVAC controls.
Hyundai decided to go upmarket with the new Santa Fe since the sales of the current model has not been what they expected, with the Kia Sorento outselling the Santa Fe.
The new design should hopefully change that and get the Hyundai Santa Fe the sales boost it needs not forgetting that KIA will also update its Sorento with a new style inspired by the EV9.
What we can see from the photos is that the new mid-size SUV will get a “floating roof” design with the blackened out A- and B-pillar. The headlights will be squared with an H pattern in the LED DRL’s . A pattern that might also be found in the rear lights.
Power will come from a variety of engines, both with mild-hybrid tech and plug-in hybrid technology.
The debut is expected for August 2023 as a 2024 model.
