Recently we shared that the updated Genesis GV80 will be first HMG model to used a 27-inch OLED display made by LG Display, a new curved display that will combine the instrument cluster, navigation, audio, etc… and today we have the very first spy shot of a prototype with the new display installed.
According to the automobile industry on the 3rd, Genesis larger SUV will be equipped with a ‘panoramic display’ using a LG Display’s 27-inch OLED on the 2024 GV80 facelift model, which will be released in the second half of this year. This is the first time that a Hyundai Motor Group vehicle will use an OLED display as its main display.
In the meantime, Hyundai has used LCDs (liquid crystal display devices) to separate Genesis’ instrument panel and infotainment. However, the South Korean luxury carmaker decided to put a panoramic display from the partial change model of the 2024 GV80. Recently, in the automotive industry, the trend of applying panoramic displays that connect the instrument panel and infotainment in a one large screen without interruption is spreading.
In addition, OLED is applied to improve the picture quality of the panoramic display. OLED is thinner and lighter in weight than LCD. Not only is the picture quality, color expression, and brightness excellent, but the viewing angle is more than 30% wide. Hyundai Motor Group is also known to be equipped with OLED displays one after another in its new products, starting with the GV80, the flagship model of Genesis.
