A mysterious prototype vehicle was caught near Hyundai-KIA R&D Center in Namyang by our colleagues at Shortscar. The vehicle, allegedly the new KIA EV4, shows a boxy design and have parts mounted that make us think this is a Kia vehicle and not a Hyundai. For example, the exterior mirrors are the same used in the new KIA Niro while the wheels are from the Sorento.
The mysterious vehicle was caught in the streets near Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Center in Namyang, South Korea and despite we don’t know what this could be, already has its production body.
Not that long ago, we spied an EV6 chassis testing mule that had a slightly modified body of the Kia EV6 with apparently similar wheelbase but could be hiding a different model, this is the first time we spied this model.
It is still unknown if this model used the E-GMP platform or the new “eM“. As a possible budget electric car (remember it has the same size as a Seltos but with a longer wheelbase) we bow down for E-GMP, but maybe with a 400V system like the EV5 and LFP (lithium iron phosphate battery) to keep the price under $25,000.
These are the very first spy shots of an expected SUV that should arrive sometime in 2024 and could rival Tesla Model 2 and Volkswagen ID.2all under $30,000 cars.
