While some automakers have decided to end the life of its sedans, Hyundai is already testing the new generation Palisade that will use the Hybrid powertrain for the first time.
Codenamed as LX3, the new Hyundai Palisade is a vehicle that will present a few changes over the current generation in terms of chassis and powertrain and it will include for the first time a Hybrid variant. Rumor-mill talks about a new 2.5-liter hybrid engine. Also, it will be bigger than ever to get some space to the upcoming Santa Fe.
Current line-up in the Palisade is a choice of a gasoline engines, depending on the market, including a diesel engine with 202 hp while the rest of the line-up conforms with a 3.5 and 3.8 naturally aspirated engines with 250 and 295 hp respectively. This is the same line-up as Kia Telluride, despite Telluride is not available in Korea, so it doesn’t have the diesel and the 3.5-liter.
In the US-market, Hyundai tried many times to success in the big SUV segment but until the Palisade arrived, they failed with the Veracruz and Santa Fe XL. Now and since the launch in 2019, Hyundai recorded more than 280.000 Palisade’s.
In terms of design its is hard to know how it will look as Hyundai is currently testing the drivetrain while finishing the exterior design inside its R&D Center. We expect to see first production body 3rd gen Palisade on the road by October.
