Genesis adds new entry-level trim to the U.S. market for the GV60 EV, which has lowered its price and increased mileage. The Genesis GV60 EV is rated as relatively expensive, and has suffered from sluggish sales as well as overseas.
Genesis has included a new entry-level trim that is nearly $9,000 cheaper than the existing entry trim in its recently unveiled 2024 All-Electric GV60 SUV lineup in the U.S. The new trim also has longer mileage.
The original GV60 was based on a dual-motor advanced AWD trim that offers 314 horsepower and 248 miles (about 399 km) of mileage overseas. But given that the GV60 shares the platform with the Kia EV6 and Hyundai’s IONIQ 5, prices starting at $59,290 (about 80 million won) have been said to be expensive.
Both the EV6 and IONIQ 5 offer longer mileage at a lower price compared to the GV60. The GV60 has a relatively wide range of features and a luxurious design, but it has been pointed out that it is not enough to justify the high price.
In order to eventually overcome this problem, Genesis decided to add a new entry-level standard trim to the 2024 GV60. Prices start at $53,195. The big difference is that the standard trim is a single motor RWD model. Thanks to this, it’s $8,550 cheaper than the 2024 GV60 Advanced Trim.
The Standard Trim guarantees a mileage of up to 294 miles (about 473 km), 46 miles more than the Advanced. The luxury brand expects the new trim to “make the GV60 look even more attractive to consumers with a burdensome price.”
