Genesis is preparing the G80 facelift to be released before the end of the year and despite we already have seen the interior completely undisguised, there are more surprises. Our colleagues at Woopa TV captured a G80 prototype with a longer wheelbase, electric powertrain and same wheels as the G90 limousine.
The video shows a G80 prototype electric model long wheel base test car captured inside a parking lot. The G80 electrified model in the video features new details and new specifications, especially the increased wheelbase compared to its predecessor.
The front part is blocked by panels as it is an electric vehicle and the G-Matrix pattern inside the crest grille is the same as before. The headlamp now has a new interior graphics thanks to the addition of the MLA-type full LED system introduced in the GV80. Another point that made us think we are in front of a limousine version is the wheel design, which looks like the G90 Limousine.
At a glance, this prototype shows a longer wheelbase than the previous G80 electrified model. It is expected that this extended wheelbase allows Genesis to add a bigger battery pack because due to the increase in weight, the range will be lower than the regular model.
Talking about the interior, it will suffer of bigger changes than the exterior. The ’27-inch OLED display’ we have seen in both the GV80 & GV80 Coupe will be added as well as new shift-by-wire and console buttons will get the new crystal design. Along with the display change, the new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system will be installed, and convenience and safety features such as driver assistance systems will be upgraded.
