Genesis brand is currently conducting tests on the flagship electric SUV, the ‘GV90’, which is expected to be the most luxurious vehicle in the Genesis line-up ever. The GV90 will be Genesis’s third electrified SUV and the first large electric SUV to be introduced under the Genesis brand, following the GV60 and GV70 Electrified.
Notably, the GV90 is anticipated to incorporate advanced technologies such as Hyundai Motor Group’s latest electric vehicle platform, futuristic family-oriented design, a flagship model’s substantial body, and Samsung OLED display.
Upon comprehensive examination of various spy shots and estimates currently available, the overall style appears notably similar to the GV80, with certain unique stylings that catch the eye.
The front features Genesis’s distinct crest grille, considerably large in size, and, being an electric vehicle, it follows the trend of a fully enclosed grille similar to the GV70 electric model. The lighting is expected to be comprised of standard LEDs, with the outlook suggesting the incorporation of MLA-type LED lights similar to the current G90 model.
The side profile, being a three-row large electric SUV, exudes grandeur with its substantial body and elongated wheelbase. While the character line is challenging to confirm, the window line (DLO) is unique. Additionally, the GV90’s special model will feature coach doors (also known as suicide doors). Coach doors are designed with the front door latch located at the front and the rear door latch situated at the rear, allowing the doors to open facing each other, a feature typically seen only in ultra-luxury brands.
Regarding the rear, only the lamps and the lower portion of the bumper are partially visible. The tail lamp design resembles that of the GV80, displaying geometric inner graphics that present a more three-dimensional appearance.
With the license plate located at the bottom of the bumper, it is highly likely that the GV90 will feature dual-line connected lamps similar to the G90. Inside, it is rumored that a 27-inch OLED panoramic display will stretch from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat. This display will utilize state-of-the-art components from Samsung Electronics.
Furthermore, it is expected to boast the latest design, premium materials, spacious three-row seating, and practicality. The GV90 is based on the next-generation dedicated electric vehicle platform called eM, rather than Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP electric vehicle platform. Equipped with the new eM platform, it is anticipated to secure a competitive edge with a maximum battery capacity of 113kWh and a maximum range of 800km on a single charge.
Competing against the GV90 are models like the BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and Tesla Model X. The GV90’s price is estimated to range from around 100 million to 200 million Korean won (US $76,400 to $152,800) and is projected to be unveiled in the at the end of 2024, with a planned release in the first half of 2025.
