A new report from Korean media AutoDaily said Genesis has decided to launch the X Convertible, an electric sports coupe convertible based on the X Convertible concept, a vehicle that combines innovative design with cutting-edge technology, slated for release in 2026 in a limited batch.
The model, first unveiled as a concept car in California in 2022, has garnered significant attention for embodying Genesis’ future direction and design philosophy. This Convertible will mark Genesis’ first foray into convertible vehicles, featuring a luxurious design that emphasizes harmony with nature.

The X Convertible sports a long wheelbase of 2950mm and a sleek, curvaceous design, promising a harmonious blend of form and function. Luke Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at Hyundai Motor and Kia, has detailed the vehicle’s design and functionality, affirming the commitment to its production version.
Design and Aesthetics
At the forefront, the vehicle boasts a reinterpreted Crest Grill and elongated headlamps, while the rear features OLED taillamps and a distinctive ‘V-shaped’ brake light, completing its unique design. Inside, the X Convertible adopts a driver-centric design, with controls and displays enveloping the driver in a cockpit-like environment. Exterior and interior color options include ‘Crane White,’ ‘Giwa Navy,’ and ‘Danchung Orange,’ offering a sophisticated palette.
Powertrain and Pricing
While specific details on the X Convertible’s powertrain remain undisclosed, it is expected to be a high-performance model based on Hyundai Motor Group’s All-New electric platform, known as “eM”, and set to be premiered by another Genesis model as early as 2025 with the release of the GV90. Production will be limited to 150 units and will be produced at Ulsan’s new electric car factory that is under construction. It is expected to be priced between approximately 250 to 370 million KRW ($187,000 to $278,000) according to the source, attracting global interest from car enthusiasts.
