Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the design of its new electric business platform, ‘ST1’, for the first time today. ST1 is a business platform vehicle that can be expanded into an optimized form depending on the purpose of use based on the chassis cab.
As a result, Hyundai plans to expand its electrification lineup from passenger models to commercial models to expand sales and further solidify its position in the electric vehicle market.
The borrowed name, ST1, is an abbreviation for ‘Service Type1’. ST refers to a business platform that can provide a variety of services and solutions, and the number 1 indicates that it is the first model among them. The ST1’s exterior design was completed to enhance safety and practicality as it is a business vehicle.
The front part has a semi-bonnet type design that is resistant to collision safety. In the semi-bonnet type, about half of the bonnet, which is the PE (Power Electric) room, protrudes forward from the cab (passenger compartment), thereby increasing safety in the event of a collision by securing a collision space so that the car body can absorb shock.
In addition, black-colored protectors were applied to areas where scratches frequently occur, such as the front bumper, side side garnish, and rear twin swing door rim, to protect the vehicle and enhance its sophistication.
In addition, by lowering the ground clearance, the loading box capacity was maximized, easier entry into the underground parking lot was made, and convenience was increased so that workers could easily climb up and down the loading box.
Hyundai Motor Company improved aerodynamic performance by applying a streamlined roof spoiler to the ST1 and a garnish that naturally connects the cab and the cargo compartment.
ST1’s flagship lineup, cargo and cargo refrigeration models, were developed first. The Cargo and Cargo Refrigerated models are vehicles specialized for logistics and delivery businesses, equipped with a general loading box and a refrigerated loading box in the chassis cab, respectively.
From the beginning of the development of the ST1, Hyundai Motor Company has been in close communication with major domestic distribution companies to reflect the needs of actual customers in the vehicle. By putting sample vehicles in the development stage into customers’ businesses, Hyundai Motor Company has been able to create customized solutions that are most suitable for logistics and delivery business. developed a vehicle.
A Hyundai Motor Company official said, “ST1 is a business platform with a variety of expansion possibilities,” and added, “Starting with a vehicle optimized for logistics and delivery business, we hope that it will be loved by many customers as it can be expanded into a platform tailored to various purposes in the future. “ He said.
Hyundai Motor Company plans to unveil the main specifications, specifications, and price of the ST1 in the first half of this year and sell the ST1’s cargo and cargo refrigeration models first in Korea.
