Earlier this month Hyundai showcased the IONIQ 5 facelift and its new N Line version, but Hyundai plans to add an IONIQ 5 XRT to the North American market and a new prototype was captured by our colleagues at HealerTV with some interesting details.

These prototypes are full camouflaged and reveal new positions of the parking sensors in the front bumper as well as a completely new rear bumper design. The front bumper also looks different in the lower part. Through the side window we can see a fully camouflaged interior, which is also an indicator for an updated interior of the facelift. Captured near Hyundai-Kia Technical Center, the updated Hyundai IONIQ 5 was captured without camouflaged but it was testing with aero wheels. We cannot appreciate any bigger differences that affects any part of the design as this is probably in an early stage of development.

Talking about the powertrain, we don’t expect many changes compared to the currently line-up despite a small fine-tuning to make the electric motors more efficient and probably adding a higher density battery pack to increase the electric range. As for the inside, looking at the recently launched IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 5 N, you can bet Hyundai will apply the same thinner bezels infotainment system as well as the latest safety and tech features including on demand features.

IONIQ 5 XRT shows new pixel body cladding

It is difficult to know when Hyundai plans to release this facelift but we don’t expect it before Summer 2024 in South Korea, with European and US-spec models arriving by end of 2024. Despite the world is no longer facing a semiconductor shortage,

Hyundai is still struggling to delivery the current IONIQ 5 and another top models such as Grandeur or Kona electric so it is difficult to predict if these schedules will be fulfilled. It looks like some of the orders will be delivered as a refreshed model if that situation does not get better during 2023. What do you expect about the updated Hyundai IONIQ 5?

A new prototype was caught inside a parking lot in South Korea, wearing roof rails, black wheels with rugged design, all-terrain tires, pixel pattern in the side and front cladding and a new pixel LED light front bar.
