On Monday, Hyundai marked a significant milestone as the two-millionth Tucson rolled off the production line at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) in Nošovice. This particular vehicle, finished in a striking Sailing Blue Pearl, is equipped with the 1.6 T-GDi HEV engine and is destined for its new owner in the U.K. This achievement underscores the Tucson’s status as Hyundai’s best-selling model in Europe.
A Milestone for Hyundai
“Two million units produced at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech is a significant milestone for our global and also European top seller,” said Michael Cole, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. “Almost from its very beginning the car was designed and produced with the European customer in mind. As it has evolved to become a success story globally and particularly in Europe, it perfectly stands for Hyundai’s customer-centric approach.”
Tucson’s Journey from Nošovice to Europe
The Tucson’s journey at HMMC began in mid-June 2015 with the production of the third-generation model. Over five years, a total of 1,180,445 units were manufactured. The fourth-generation Tucson, currently in production, features a refreshed design, an upgraded interior, and an enhanced features package. In 2023 alone, 244,495 units were produced, accounting for approximately 70% of HMMC’s total output. These vehicles are exported to 70 countries worldwide, with the majority shipped to the U.K., Spain, Germany, and France.
Hyundai has also expanded the Tucson’s powertrain options to include hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines, both of which are in high demand. In fact, 2 out of 5 fourth-generation Tucsons sold in Europe are either hybrid or plug-in hybrid.
Celebrating 20 Years with a Special Edition
To commemorate its two decades on the market, Hyundai has unveiled plans for a special 20th Anniversary Edition Tucson. This special edition will feature unique interior and exterior finishes, with production set to begin at HMMC in August. More information about the special edition will be released soon.
Conclusion
The production of the two-millionth Tucson at HMMC is a testament to Hyundai’s commitment to quality and innovation. With its customer-centric approach and a strong focus on the European market, Hyundai continues to lead the way in the automotive industry. The introduction of the special 20th Anniversary Edition Tucson is yet another example of Hyundai’s dedication to celebrating its successes and looking forward to the future.
