KIA revealed its All-New EV6 model for the South Korean local market while left the more powerful EV6 GT to be revealed later this year. The updated EV6 now has a completely new front fascia as well as updated rear bumper, new star-map taillights system or a new steering wheels for both. Now it is known that the EV6 GT will add a virtual transmission system, similar to what we have seen in the IONIQ 5 N.
Despite these upgrades, the price remains unchanged at 55.4 to 63.15 million KRW – $40,600 to $46,228 -. The official launch is slated for next month.
Pricing and Competitiveness
Kia has managed to maintain competitive pricing for the new EV6, despite significant improvements in its features. The detailed pricing before tax incentives for the facelifted EV6 is as follows:
- Long Range Light: 55.4 million KRW. – $40,600 –
- Air: 58.24 million KRW. – $42,689 –
- Earth: 62.52 million KRW. – $45,827 –
- GT-Line: 63.15 million KRW. – $46,228 –
These prices are before incorporating the environmental-friendly vehicle tax benefits, that are available in South Korea for the new EV6.
Kia is also offering a “Triple Zero” program which includes trade-in benefits, special variable rate financing, and residual value guarantees for the EV6.
Design and Interior Enhancements
The front of the new EV6 features Kia’s new family look with Star Map signature lighting for daytime running lights, creating a futuristic and wide impression. This lighting design is also applied to the rear lamps. The GT-Line model comes with sporty front and rear bumpers and a front LED center positioning lamp.
Inside, the EV6 boasts a sophisticated panoramic curved display, new ambient lighting, a new capacitive steering wheel, fingerprint authentication, and a redesigned wireless charging pad to prevent smartphones from moving. It supports Kia Digital Key 2, e-Hi-Pass, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Improved Performance and Comfort
The new EV6 is equipped with an 84 kWh fourth-generation battery. It offers a range of 494 km on a single charge for the Long Range 2WD (19-inch, non-built-in cam). Despite the increased battery capacity, the fast charging capability has been enhanced, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes with a 350 kW ultra-fast charger.
The ride comfort on rough roads has been improved by tuning the frequency-sensitive shock absorbers. The overall driving experience is enhanced with optimized motor noise control and increased sound-absorbing material in the rear motor. The vehicle’s body rigidity has been reinforced, including a thicker B-pillar and a 10-airbag system with side airbags for the second row.
