Hyundai Motor announced on behalf of the 2024 CEO Investor Day the introduction of its next-generation IT system and user interface, powered by Android. This cutting-edge system will premiere in the highly anticipated Genesis GV90, scheduled for release in 2026.
A New Era of In-Car Entertainment
Hyundai’s new infotainment system, developed in collaboration with Google, will run on the Android Automotive operating system. This integration will provide users with a seamless and intuitive experience, akin to using a high-end smartphone or tablet. By leveraging the power of AAOS, Hyundai aims to deliver a more personalized and responsive interface that enhances driving pleasure.
“Hyundai is committed to pushing the boundaries of automotive technology,” said a spokesperson from Hyundai Motor Company. “Our new infotainment system represents a quantum leap in how drivers and passengers interact with their vehicles. With AAOS, we are not only improving functionality but also opening doors to a vast ecosystem of apps and services.”
Genesis GV90: A Flagship for the Future
The Genesis GV90, Hyundai’s flagship luxury SUV, will be the first model to showcase this innovative system. Expected to compete directly with the likes of Tesla’s Model X and other premium electric vehicles, the GV90 will feature a massive center touchscreen. The screen will serve as the command center for nearly all vehicle functions, including navigation, media, climate control, and more.
Hyundai has focused on creating a user-friendly and aesthetically interface, ensuring that the large screen does not overwhelm the driver. The UI is designed to be highly customizable, allowing users to configure the display according to their needs and preferences. This includes multiple layout options, voice command integration, and haptic feedback. All of this will ensure that the system is both visually appealing and easy to use while on the move.
Beyond the Screen: A Fully Connected Ecosystem
In addition to the large screen, the GV90 will offer full integration with AI connected services and a suite of Google apps. This will allow users to control smart home devices, access personalized content, and receive real-time updates on traffic, weather, and other critical information.
Furthermore, the AAOS platform will enable OTA updates, ensuring that it remains up-to-date with the latest features and improvements. Hyundai plans to introduce additional third-party app compatibility, making it easier for developers to create and deploy apps specifically designed for the in-car experience.
Setting a New Benchmark
The introduction of this next-gen IT system in the GV90 will try to establish it as a leader in the luxury and EV markets. The company is not only challenging established players like Tesla but also setting a new benchmark for in-car technology and connectivity.
