The Genesis Electrified GV70 was revealed as a 2022 model while the combustion engined Genesis GV70 was already on the market. An updated GV70 ICE was revealed earlier this year which means that the Electrified GV70 gets his Facelift for the end of this year as a 2025 model. Now the facelift version passed through KENCIS (Korea Emission & Noise Certification Information System) with the same battery pack as before.

Powertrain Enhancements

While major changes to the powertrain are not anticipated, the updated Electrified GV70 is likely to feature fine-tuning to improve efficiency. The current lineup includes an all-wheel drive dual electric motor system delivering a robust 360kW (490 hp) combined output. This, paired with a 77.4kWh battery, offers an impressive range of 283 miles (455 km).

It was expected to incorporate a higher density battery pack, similar to the 84kWh batteries found in the IONIQ 5 or Kia EV6 facelift models, but unfortunately it looks like the GV70 EV will use the same battery as before. The reason? Not being based on the Electric Global Modular Platform may make impossible to increase the battery pack.

The current Electrified GV70 boasts cutting-edge 800-volt architecture, allowing it to charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350kW rapid charger. This technology is expected to carry over to the updated model, maintaining its status as a leader in charging efficiency.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, the updated GV70 is likely to adopt features from the upcoming GV80 facelift, including a new 27-inch OLED display. This advanced display technology will enhance the driver and passenger experience, offering superior clarity and functionality.

As of now, the release of the updated Genesis Electrified GV70 is not expected before Summer 2024 in South Korea. European and US-spec models are anticipated to follow by the end of 2024. This timeline allows Genesis ample opportunity to refine and perfect the model before its global debut.

Conclusion

The anticipation surrounding the updated Genesis Electrified GV70 is palpable. With potential improvements in battery capacity, interior technology, and a continued focus on efficiency, it promises to be a noteworthy addition to the electric SUV market.
