KIA EV9 GT high performance electric SUV was spied closely in South Korea thanks to our colleagues at Healer TV and it looks like the high performance EV9 will add an active spoiler similar to what we have seen in the GV70 Sport. The next model of the GT family will have an enormous power thanks to dual motor system and a 0-60mph (0-100km/h) of 4 seconds, which sounds good taking into account an AWD EV9 already weighs 5,800lb (2,600kg).
The Arrival of the Kia EV9 GT
The automotive world first caught wind of the EV9s GT variant when spy shots of the model undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden surfaced and now in South Korea. Building on the success of its predecessor, the Kia EV9, the GT version is poised to introduce sporty design enhancements and unparalleled performance features.
Design and Performance Enhancements
The GT variant distinguishes itself from the standard EV9 with several sporty design modifications aimed at setting it apart in the crowded SUV market. At its core, the GT model will share the powertrain with the acclaimed EV6 GT, boasting a formidable 585 PS (576 horsepower) and 740 Nm of torque, thanks to its dual-motor setup. This power is not just for show; it’s complemented by substantial braking capabilities, highlighted by striking lime-green calipers visible on the prototype, mirroring those found on the EV6 GT.
Power Meets Efficiency
The EV9 GT is not only about raw power. It promises rapid acceleration and a top speed capable of rivaling traditional combustion-engine SUVs, all while offering a generous range to alleviate range anxiety. Thanks to its large-capacity battery and fast-charging capability, drivers can expect minimal downtime and more time enjoying the road.
The GT model is set to redefine the electric SUV segment with its blend of performance, affordability, and luxury. It challenges established players, positioning itself as a formidable competitor to high-performance electric SUVs, including the Tesla Model X Plaid. With its anticipated market debut in early 2025, the EV9 GT represents Kia’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry.
