The South Korean carmaker announced that it released a 2016 Kia Soul which is a diesel model mounted with a seven-speed DCT (double-clutch transmission).

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]The newly-released Soul adopts a new transmission to improve fuel efficiency, while featuring a wider adoption of customer-preferred specifications.

A Kia Motors official said, “The new Kia Soul uses outdoor items to improve space utilization and employs a seven-speed DCT to improve driving performance and economic value.”

The Kia Soul 1.6-liter Diesel CRDi has a compound fuel efficiency of 15.8 kilometers per liter (based on 16-inch tires), a 12 percent improvement compared to the existing models’ 14.1 kilometers per liter.

Kia’s new DCT has also been developed in-house and has been engineered with low fuel consumption and a sporty driving feel when in manual mode, and with comfort and smoothness when left in automatic mode.

Its roof rack is mounted as a basic option for all diesel trims and gasoline prestige-plus models. Outdoor items such as the roof box and bicycle carrier will be displayed at the customizing Tuon Mall.

The retail price ranges for the new Kia Soul starting from 16.0 million won ($14,240) to 20.75 million won ($18,450) for 1.6-liter gasoline models, while that for 1.6-liter diesel models stand between 20.75 million won ($18,450) and 22.75 million won ($20,250).
