Kia K2.5

Latest spy sots suggest Kia is releasing a new model between the K2 and K3 platforms. Judging by the photographs Hyundai has their own version of it as well. Although no definite word of what the new model will be called, we decided to name it the Kia K2.5.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:6px;”]Based on the spy shoots, the size of the sedan seems to be in between the Rio and Forte which suggest that it will been more of a economy sedan. Front and rear end picture gives us clues of what the new generations aesthetic styling may be like in 2018.

The front end there seems to be small resemblance to the Scion Tc which had a similar grill, along with the headlight design which seem to be Bi-Xenon lights, along with possibly HID fog lights. In looking at the rear of the car, the rear lights make the car resemble a current Mazda 6. However, other exterior shots make the car seem like a mid-size sedan, possibly a smaller version of the successful Kia Optima with a moon roof.

[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:6px;”]In attempting to make out the suspension, the vehicle features full disc brakes along what seems to be 2-piston brakes in the front and rear. Although that may seem standard, several manufacturers continue to use drum style brakes on the rear to keep the cost down. Evidence of full disc brakes gives us reassurance that although Korean manufacturers develop economy cars they still are committed to safety and performance. In searching for other signs of development, based on the rear silhouette of the bottom of car, the car is FWD because there is no sign of a rear differential. Instead it seems that it may be a rear twist beam which are found in the current Rio, Forte, Accent, Elantra and Velosters.

Kia K2.5

Overall, the Kia K2.5 looks to be a cross between two successful vehicles in their category. Perhaps it is designed for those who want something like the Optima but smaller, or it may be targeted at a different market altogether like the small sedan market with the features of full or mid-sized sedans. The only downside however, is that the Kia K2.5 will only be available in China. This maybe because the market is more prominent there where parking space is limited, or larger sedans seen as too cumbersome. Either way, we unfortunately won’t get a chance to drive it unless our Korean manufactures say otherwise, finger crossed.
